An Owasso teen-ager who admitted killing and wounding animals belonging to a neighbor has received a five-year deferred sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of animal cruelty.

Jason Wayne Thorson, 18, pleaded guilty in Rogers County District Court last week as part of a plea negotiation. Assistant District Judge Jack Mayberry found Thorson guilty and set his formal sentencing for November 11.

Conditions of the plea agreement call for Thorson to attend the RIDD program, a boot-camp-type program at the Department of Corrections; serve 90 days in the Rogers County Jail and pay $2,000 in restitution; have no contact with the victims; and pay a $100 fine on each count, court costs and $25 to the victims compensation asessment fund. Thorson also was required to write the victims a letter of apology.
