Sentence: Ashli Thomas, 25, of Mt. Juliet, pleaded guilty to the false report and eight counts of animal cruelty in Washington County Criminal Court after her attorney, Roberts Bradford, and the district attorney’s office negotiated the agreement.

Thomas will serve four years on probation — two supervised and two unsupervised — complete 50 hours of community service, allow the animal control office in her town to make animal welfare checks at her home and pay a total of $75 in fines in addition to court costs.

When all that is over, Thomas can have the conviction expunged from her record.

One other requirement for the plea was that Thomas had to sit down with Debbie Dobbs, the Johnson City/Washington County Animal Shelter, and answer truthfully any questions about the missing dogs. ... more...
