The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office arrested a 68-year-old man on Sept 16 after neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the Prescott Country Club.

John Mosley faces multiple felony charges of animal cruelty, endangerment, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage.

A sheriff's press release says that at 10:15 p.m. deputies went to the 10000 block of Oxbow Drive to investigate the report of gunfire. Witnesses said they saw Mosley standing outside his home holding a shotgun right after they heard shots.

During their investigation, deputies discovered a small dog shot to death in the neighbor's yard behind Mosley's house along with an expended shotgun shell.

Mosley denied any involvement in the shooting of the dog. Based on the eyewitness accounts, deputies arrested Mosley and then later served a search warrant on his house. The search revealed a shotgun and an opened box of shotgun shells that matched the empty shell deputies found near the dead dog.
