Six Akita dogs were removed from Ms. Colden-Hawkins property after Animal Control was contacted by the mortgage company of the existence of the dogs on the property. Animal Control responded and found the six Akita's tied-up on the property, all were allegedly emaciated and starved near death. Four of the six Akitas were released by Animal Control to Akita Rescue Mid-Atlantic Coast for rehabilitation, fostering and adoption. The other two Akitas were deemed by Akita Rescue as being unadoptable. Ms. Colden-Hawkins is being charged with 5 (five) counts of Class 4 Misdemeanor counts of No Rabies Vaccination for K-9, and two counts of
Class 1 Misdemeanor Animal Cruelty.
