Council Bluffs authorities are investigating a case of animal cruelty, where someone apparently set fire to a cat. The animal was found with scorch marks on its head and body.
Julie Damewood discovered the cat. She said she feeds it, and that the cat sometimes wanders along Stahl Avenue, just northwest of the Mall of the Bluffs.
"I'm really angry about it. That's a defenseless animal. He's been declawed. He's everybody's friend. I just can't imagine anyone being that cruel," Damewood said.
The cat was eating by Tuesday (July 18) morning and appears to be all right, Damewood said.
The animal is getting treatment.
There was no word on who might be responsible for the cat's injuries. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
