When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Two cats slammed into wall, killing one Cookeville, TN (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Jul 12, 2006 County: Putnam
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Jacob Joshua Salas
A N. Dixie Ave. man who slammed two pet cats into a wall, killing one, is getting 10 days in jail and 100 hours of community service at the animal shelter.
That is the sentence that General Sessions Court Judge John Hudson gave to Jacob Joshua Salas, 27, on the charge of cruelty to animals.
In General Sessions Court on Wednesday, Judge Hudson asked him why he committed the act of cruelty, and Salas replied that he did it because the cats had been into the garbage.
Salas was arrested July 12 after Cookeville Police Officer Chris Melton was called to the area to investigate a report of cruelty to animals.
The officer said he found that Salas had picked up the two pet kittens after Salas' girlfriend had told him they had gotten into the garbage in the apartment.
"He picked both cats up and tossed them across the room," the officer's report says. "One cat hit the door facing and fell to the floor and started flopping."
The cat then died, the report says.
Officer Melton arrested Salas and took him to the Putnam jail. In court Wednesday, he pleaded guilty.
Judge Hudson fined him $100 and sentenced him to 11 months and 29 days in jail, with 10 days of that to serve, and ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service at the animal shelter.
Salas will also be on supervised probation for 11 months and 29 days, and he is forbidden to have any pet animals without the written permission of the court. References« TN State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Putnam County, TN
