Two Shreveport men were arrested late June 1 night for their alleged involvement in a dogfight at a public park.

Tremaine Williams, 33, of the 4000 block of Jacob Street, and Dejuan Lewis, 32, of the 4000 block of Mandeline Street, each face charges of dog fighting. Lewis faces an additional felony charge of resisting arrest.

Williams bonded out of City Jail on June 2, while Lewis remained in jail. No bond has been set in Lewis' case.

Police said someone called officers tat Saturday evening to alert them of a dogfight at a park. When officers arrived at the park, which wasn't identified in the report, they allegedly found Lewis in possession of an American Staffordshire terrier.

The dog had several open, bleeding wounds on its face and neck, was particularly dusty and dirty, and appeared to be malnourished, police said.

An animal control officer later said the animal's wounds were consistent with dogfighting.

During the officers' investigation, Lewis allegedly ran away from the scene and physically resisted arrest. He was soon taken into custody.
