Convicted abuser suspended from AKC until 2019
Allentown, PA (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, May 31, 1989
County: Lehigh

Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Derbe Eckhart

In 1989, the American Kennel Club suspended Eckhart for "an indefinite period" for violations of rules relating to record-keeping and identification of dogs.  As a result of continuing problems with the authorities, the suspension from the AKC registry eventually was set for a total of 30 years, expiring in 2019. Still, he continued to sell dogs, shifting his operations from place to place.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
