Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Clyde Porter
An investigation by Bossier sheriff's deputies and Louisiana Livestock Brand inspectors has resulted in the arrest of a man on five counts of simple cruelty to animals. Clyde Porter, 60, of Shreveport was booked into the parish prison after surrendering, according to police. Additional charges could be filed pending a meeting with the Bossier-Webster district attorney's office, sheriff's spokesman Ed Baswell said.
The sheriff's office received complaints about several malnourished horses and cows in the 1400 block of Old Plain Dealing Road near Benton. A search resulted in the seizure of two horses and five head of mixed cattle. A veterinarian examined the animals and said they were anemic, malnourished and full of parasites, Baswell said. The animals are being stored with a local livestock contractor and will be sold on the next regular sale date at Red River Livestock on state Highway 1 in Armistead, according to the search warrant.
