Animal control officers removed a dog and 15 cats. Four of the cats were dead in a home on May 15, 2006, animal control officials told local media. Crews found the cats inside the home on Indigo St. near San Pedro. The house was filled with animal feces, authorities said.

Animal control officers rounded up the surviving cats. The animals were very weak, authorities said. Neighbors told officers the owner of the home died and someone was supposed to be taking care of the animals, officials said. Officials were attempting to find the caretaker of the cats. The caretaker could face animals cruelty charges, authorities said
