Albert Beasley, 38, and his sister, Audra Beasley, 30, are each facing one count of cruelty to an animal, a Class B misdemeanor. Albert Beasley will also be charged with false informing.
A neighbor complained of a foul odor coming from the Beasley's home. When Indiana State Police investigated, at first they thought the home was a meth lab. It was the smell of cat urine and excrement that gave the house an extremely foul odor.
More than 40 cats were living in the home. Some of the cats were very skinny, had sores on their bodies, living in their own waste without much food or water. Some of the cats were missing eyes and limbs, the cats were all over the house in the walls and rafters.
The Beasley's parents apparently were still paying rent on the house even though no one had lived in the home for about five years.
The Beasleys will be formally charged on June 20. If convicted, they could face up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
