A local man is facing a felony animal cruelty charge, police said this week. Police said they recently went to the home of Robert Kmiecik, 53, at 841 Brimfield Road after receiving a complaint from a neighbor about possible animal neglect.

Police found a dog in poor condition, and took it to a veterinarian, who said it had a broken back and ribs. The dog had to be euthanized, said Police Chief Glenn F. McKiel. Police returned and removed another dog, which is in the custody of animal control officers.
