A Delaware man is accused of intentionally running over and killing a cat. The Georgetown police arrested 35-year old Rodney Leonard for speeding up just to run over a cat belonging to Kate Walker of Georgetown. The incident happened April 29, 2006 on a side road next to Walker's home. Walker said when she called for her cat, she was devastated by what happened next. "It really went from quiet to just the sound of the accelator that was just stepped on in full force and just in a matter of seconds, it happened so fast," Walker said. "I'd say he came from out of nowhere going 15 mph to 50 mph in a matter of seconds."
Another witness says he saw Leonard laughing. The cat, named "Snowball," later died from his injuries. Walker said the cat had been in her family for 10 years. Leonard has been charged with animal cruelty, a felony crime. References« DE State Animal Cruelty Map
