Police in Flint last on April 19 were called to a horrible and graphic case of animal cruelty. A man found his cat dead and hanging on a fence. An officer with animal control says teenagers hung the cat there and had their pit bulls attack it.
"I saw the cat hanging on the fence ... what was left of it," said the cat's owner, Albert Jackson.
Jackson walked out of his garage on Marengo Street and discovered that one of his eight cats he had taken in and given a home was hanging on the fence, torn apart.
It's an image he cannot get out of his mind.
"I regained my composure and dealt with that through the grace of god," Jackson said.
Both dogs still have fresh scratch marks on their noses -- evidence of the cat attempting to fight the vicious animals off.
Ken Austin from animal control says this case is very similar to what happened in Linden last month when someone used a kitten as coyote bait.
It's something Austin says unfortunately he sees quite a bit.
That Wednesday, animal control picked up the pit bulls, but Jackson says he doesn't understand why Flint police left behind the teenagers who tied his cat to the fence in the first place.
It is still unclear how big of a priority this case is for Flint police. But right now the pit bulls are being held as evidence. When the investigation is complete, the animals will be put to sleep. References« MI State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Genesee County, MI
