A trial date has been set for a Madison County woman accused of animal cruelty, after several dogs were allegedly starved to death or were starving at her home.

Investigators say it happened in an upscale neighborhood, called Hidden Cove, tucked away in Madison County just off Blake Bottom Road.

"The giant Schnauzers were considerably underweight and there were two miniature Pinchers that were deceased," explains Mike Fritz with Madison County Animal Control.

A gruesome discovery Fritz describes but can't show pictures of just yet since the case against the pets owner, Michelle Charles, is still pending.

A case Fritz says is rare, "Just out and out not feeding one, not taking care of it in that way, we do not see a lot of that."

That's exactly what Fritz says he discovered in this garage, leaving him at a loss for words.

"Of course it made me mad, I'm not in this business to try to let things just roll off your back," says Fritz.

A trial date has been set for Charles in June.

The charge against her, cruelty to animals, is considered a misdemeanor.
