Sheriff's detectives are investigating a case of suspected animal abuse, as the family pet of a local family was found cut, burned and partially skinned. Macy, a 3-year-old Rottweiler-Labrador mix, suffered mutilation believed at the hands of a person last week off Harrison Road. To complicate matters, Macy is pregnant.

Owners Fred and Priscilla Goodson said on April 11, 2006, it appeared she was skinned on her side. She suffered chemical burns on her nose and inside her anus. She had wounds on her ears. She was treated for her infected wounds by a veterinarian. The Goodsons believe someone tried to kill their family pet. The case remains under investigation.
