Rich Puchta, 40, took two taser darts in his backside as he allegedly ran from Manteca Police officers attempting to arrest him on animal cruelty and drunkenness charges Feb 19 afternoon.
A neighbor called police about 3 p.m. saying the man had thrown his 30-pound Chow Shepherd mix over the fence at the end of its leash at the home located at 316 North Grant St.
A Manteca animal control officer took possession of the dog as officers told Puchta he would be transported to the police station where he would be released on a citation.
Officers quoted the man as saying he would not go willingly. Police said the suspect then took off running through a yard to the north, police said.
Officer Rob Armosino detained the suspect with a taser shot to his posterior stopping him on a front lawn at 320 North Grant. He was then arrested and placed in a police cruiser. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
