more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.
Case #7483 Rating: 1.0 out of 5
Hoarding 54 collies Richmond, CA (US)Incident Date: Friday, Apr 30, 1999 County: Contra Costa
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Ronald Wilson
Case Updates: 2 update(s) available
Chauncey Wilson must give up 51 of his 54 collies. Wilson says he loves his collies -- all 54 of them.
Neighbors complained of the constant barking and the smell of dog waste saying Wilson has violated a Richmond city law that says no more than three dogs per home. A group of animal activists also claim the dogs have been neglected.
Wilson has been ordered by So Contra Costa Superior Judge David Dolgin to get rid of all but three of his dogs by Oct 2 or face a $5,000 fine and a contempt of court charge.
Wilson is a high school teacher in Oakland. He says he spends $60 a day on food for the dogs. They sleep on towels and mats through the five rooms of his 10-room house.
He will abide by the court's ruling but feels he is a victim of collie conspiracy.
Wilson said, "I love the dogs, sir, and they love me. That barking people hear - that's the dogs going into an orgy of, 'We're so glad you're home, Daddy.'"
