Between 5 p.m. Nov. 10 and 12:41 p.m. Nov. 17, 300 block of Walnut Street.  A 23-year-old Brighton woman moved out of her rented home and left her dog behind. A 41-year-old Brighton woman went to check on the house for her employer, who owned the home, and found the dog was still there. The older woman held onto the dog for a week, hoping its owner would return. But the owner never showed. Brighton animal control was called to pick up the dog. The owner may have moved to Colorado Springs. The dog was taken to the city animal shelter. Its owner could face improper treatment of animals/cruelty charges if found.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges.
