Alleged: Jeffery Todd Lenice
A Gloverville man was arrested Nov 6 after witnesses said he hit a dog in the head several times with a rake and tried to stab it, according to an Aiken County sheriff's report.
Jeffery Todd Lenice, 40, of the 200 block of Project Road, was charged with ill treatment of an animal and booked into the Aiken County Detention Center.
According to the sheriff's report, Mr. Lenice told officers that the dog, which was chained behind a home on Church Street in Bath, bit him on his hand and knee, so he hit it with the rake.
But a witness told officers that she saw Mr. Lenice hitting the dog with a piece of wood, then the rake, and then trying to stab it with a knife, the report states.
