A Hinckley Township woman, suspected with her husband of raising pit bull terriers for dogfights, will serve 30 days in jail for animal cruelty.

Monica Y. Frost, 36, pleaded no contest to the charge before Medina Municipal Judge Dale H. Chase in August.

On Thursday, Chase sentenced Frost to 30 days in the Medina County Jail and fined her $1,000. She also was ordered to pay more than $8,500 for medical treatment and kennel fees for the 28 animals seized during a search of her Mattingly Road home.

Chase ordered Frost to undergo random drug testing as required by the probation department, and said that she can keep one spayed or neutered animal.

Warrants for similar charges have been issued for her husband, Michael L. Frost.
