Two men have been given an 11-month and 29-day suspended sentence and $100 fine on a cockfighting charge.

Loy Cong Huynh, 22, of 1530 Chase Meadows Circle in Hixson, and Khamh Yvang, 27, of 405 Boyds Creek Road in Sevierville appeared before Criminal Court Judge Steve Bevil.

Police said the charges arose after a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was involved in an accident at 4700 Highway 58 and three roosters (game cocks) and cockfighting paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Officials were told two of the roosters were being sold to Mr. Huynh for $50 and he was getting the third one thrown in for free.

The roosters were euthanized in April in accordance with a court order.
