Injured horse neglected

A Kingsport man is serving a 45-day jail sentence after a judge found him guilty of cruelty to a horse with a broken leg. Clarence McCrary told police he didn't know how the horse became injured.
When police responded to a call about an abandoned horse in May, they found the young horse chained to a tree. Authorities say the animal had grazed all of the grass it could reach and had been left with no water.
Sergeant Jenny Abernathy says McCrary first said he had a veterinarian look at the horse, but later admitted the animal had not been examined.
Abernathy says a vet summoned by authorities determined the horse should be destroyed because of its injuries.
Judge Steven Jones convicted McCrary on Aug 19 and sentenced him to six months in jail, suspending all but 45 days. References« TN State Animal Cruelty Map
