An East Naples man was arrested Aug 7 on suspicion of animal cruelty after transporting a rooster in a sealed bag in his pickup truck, authorities said.
The Collier County Sheriff�s Office said deputies responded at 2 p.m. Aug 7 to the Vineyards Plaza parking lot on the report of possible animal cruelty. The caller reported that a bag in the bed of a truck was moving and a slight breathing noise was heard coming from the bag.
Deputies determined that the rooster had been placed in the bag and transported from Fort Myers in the open bed of the truck. The rooster appeared unresponsive and the man was blowing on its face to try to revive the animal, the Sheriff�s Office said.
Domestic Animal Services took custody of the rooster. The animal�s condition wasn�t known.
