A Henry County man is wanted for allegedly beating his dog so severely that the animal needs extensive surgery. Donald Lamb Jr. is accused of beating a 15-month-old black Lab mix known as "Tiny Tim." He faces charges of aggravated animal cruelty and cruelty to children.

"The warrants were issued late [June 29], he's yet to be picked up, attorney Greg Futch said.

Futch represents the man's wife, who recently took Tiny Tim to a special shelter for the pets of domestic violence victims known as
"I think the most concerning thing is the father's explanation for these acts was that was his method of disciplining the animal for being bad, Byram said. "The children do have fear that if that happened to the dog, they were afraid if they made a mistake, something horrible would happen to them."

Those children are now in the custody of a relative as their parents continue divorce and custody proceedings in court.

Tiny Tim is scheduled for surgery thanks to generous donations.

Case Updates

Formal charges will not be filed against a Henry County man accused of animal cruelty. A grand jury has decided theres not enough evidence to indict Donald Lamb, Jr. The case involved a black Labrador named Tiny Tim, who was taken to a special shelter for the pets of domestic violence victims in June.

A forensic vet examined the dog and found that he was beaten so badly, he lost the use of the back right leg.

Local news viewers who were touched by his story helped raise the $1,000 needed for surgery on his leg.

Tiny Tim is recovering Tuesday following surgery to repair a crippling injury. The 15-month-old puppy was beaten so badly he lost the use of one of his legs, shelter officials said.

Dr. Matt Corse, of Northlake Veterinary Specialists, said the dog has already recovered emotionally from any trauma he experienced, but not physically.

X-rays show an old fracture in his femur that was never treated properly, making his back right leg shorter than the others and virtually useless.

"To break this type of bone, to break a femur, it's usually a high-impact injury, Dr. Corse said.

Tiny Tims injury was caused by severe abuse, according to workers at Ahimsa House, a special shelter for the pets of domestic violence victims.

They raised the thousands of dollars needed for his surgery after putting out a plea to public for help.

"To have someone go through that much hardship in their tiny little life and yet have the spirit that Tiny Tim has, I think it just really spoke to people and we're very grateful that it did., said Rikki Osborne of Ahimsa House.

It's been four days since his surgery so Tiny Tim can now begin rehabilitation treatments that will continue for up to three months. He'll have to learn to walk with a special boot designed to give his healing leg extra length.

"I think down the road when he gets more comfortable and his range of motion is back and he gets some strength back, he should be able to make a pretty fair recovery, said Lisa Bedenbaugh of Caring Canine Rehabilitation.

Donald Lamb, Jr., of Henry Count turned himself into authorities last Friday on charges connected to the dogs abuse.

He faces a felony charge of animal cruelty, and will make his first court appearance Friday. A judge will decide if there is enough evidence to move forward with the case.
