more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Cat choked, thrown over fence West Haven, CT (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Jul 31, 2001 County: New Haven
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Stephen Andrews
Stephen Andrews, 36, of Richards Street was arrested in August for allegedly choking his neighbor's cat and throwing it over a fence. The five year old cat survived the abuse.
Witnesses saw him grab the neighbor's cat called Yo-Yo by the throat, choke the animal and then throw it over a fence.
Andrews received two years probation after reaching a plea bargain with the prosecutors in Superior Court. He pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals, second-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of breach of the peace.
Judge Linda Lager accepted the plea deal and sentenced Andrews to a two-year suspended prison term, with probation and special conditions. Conditions of his probation are: he is forbidden to possess weapons of any kind and a protective order bars him from having contact with the pets' owners, his former roommate and landlord and four other individuals.
Andrews said he was angry the cat was allowed to roam in his garden. When the neighbors tried to rescue their cat, Andrews went into his home, grabbed a stick and stood waving it over the cat.
Three days before the cat choking incident. Police charged Andrews with breach of peace when he allegedly pepper sprayed a man who told police he tried to help Andrews push his disabled car out of the street.
In custody Andrews was again charged with breach of peace after he smeared blood and feces in a holding cell.
Two weeks later, Andrews was arrested a third time because he ran around the outside of the same neighbor's home wielding an axe and threatening to kill their dog.
Police charged Andrews on Aug 19 with taunting neighbors with the axe saying he threw it against a fence and a telephone pole. References« CT State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in New Haven County, CT
