more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Case Updates: 2 update(s) available

Cory Michael Williamson's neighbor reportedly witnessed the seventeen year old having sexual contact with her 6-month-old dog over the weekend.

Williamson, 17, is now in the Spartanburg County Detention Center charged with buggery.

Last year, Williamson was charged with criminal sexual conduct against a 4-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl.

The solicitor's office said that it has petitioned a circuit judge to revoke bond for Williamson.

Prosecutor Gowdy is taking this case very seriously, and fully understands the impact of this situation.

The Honorable Trey Gowdy
Solicitor, 7th Circuit
180 Magnolia St., 3rd Fl.
Spartanburg, SC 29306

Case Updates

A teenager was sentenced to prison Monday after admitting to sexually assaulting a dog. Cory Williamson, 18, will serve up to five years in the Department of Corrections' Youthful Offender Division.

Circuit Judge John C. Few also ordered Williamson to undergo mental health counseling.

Solicitor Trey Gowdy prosecuted the case and said the owners of the dog --neighbors of Williamson -- witnessed the attack on May 20 at their home near Campobello.

Several days later, the 6-month-old pit bull puppy, Princess, died.

"The owners took their family pet to two veterinarians. But the dog was never the same after the sexual assault," Gowdy said.

Andy Johnston, Williamson's lawyer, presented a letter from a veterinarian who examined the dog the day after the attack.

Johnston said the veterinarian concluded that the attack did not cause the dog's death.

"No autopsy was done," Johnston said.

Johnston, referring to Internet accounts of the charge against Williamson, said his client would never be able to have a normal life in the community.

"Possibly elsewhere. In spite of what's been said, I found him to be nice and the most pleasant young man I've ever had the pleasure to meet," Johnston said.

Williamson was 17 years old when the offense occurred.

He was given the opportunity to speak during the hearing and talked briefly in a muffled voice as he tried to control his tears and sobs.

In a barely audible voice, he told the dog owner, who also stood before Few, that he was sorry.

The owner of Princess said the family pet was very much loved and missed.

Williamson faced a minimum of six months and a maximum of five years in prison. He could also have been fined up to $5,000.

He was arrested on a charge of buggery but was allowed to plead guilty to a charge of ill treatment of an animal.

"He was indicted on the initial charge, but prosecutors found a charge that they felt was appropriate for the circumstances," Gowdy's spokesman Murray Glenn said.

Williamson had been in jail since his arrest last year.

He is also awaiting trial on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The Campobello teen accused of raping one neighbor's dog and another neighbor's two little girls. Now the dog has died and charges against the teen have been upgraded.

The Dog died of internal bleeding this June 5 because of the rape. The vet stated she had a little blood in her urine and that she was bleeding inside.

After receiving word that the dog died possibly because of the rape. Fox Carolina called the Solicitor's office to see if now new charges would be filed against the teen. An hour later Solicitor Trey Gowdy called to say that the charges will be upgraded to the "most serious animal cruelty charges they have on the books."

The dogs owners would not have believed Cory Williamson raped Princess exactly two weeks to the day she died had they not seen it with their own eyes.

When the dogs owners arrived they we were laying on the deck looking at him and he had his pants down and he was doing sexual activity with the dog like a man would do to a woman.

The Dogs family says Princess wouldn't eat or play anymore after the attack. She (Princess) couldn't even sit down, her bottom was swollen sore.

The Solicitor's office says it wants to make sure Williamson is out of this neighborhood while he's awaiting trial on the molestation and dog rape charges so they are requesting that his bond be revoked. Williamson's bond hearing will be held next June 17.
