Tucson Police are investigating a case of animal abuse. On May 13, someone threw a five-week-old kitten out of a truck window at Speedway and Pantano. The kitten, named Squeaker is okay and already has found a loving home.

Abandoning an animal is a misdemeanor - punishable with six months in jail and a $2,500 fine. For felony abandonment, the punishment increases significantly.

"if they are able to prove a felony abandonment, so the animal actually suffered a loss of a limb or died as a result of the abandonment, then you're talking about three years in the state penitentiary and $25,000 worth of fines," says Marsh Myers with the Animal Cruelty Task Force.
