A $2,000 reward was offered on May 13 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for shooting blow darts at stray cats in Glendale.
The green object on the cat in the case photo is the end a blow dart that entered just below the eye, but missed the cat's brain.
The Denver Dumb Friends League announced the reward after a 1-year-old black female cat was brought into the League earlier in the week. The cat, named Angel by shelter workers, had three blow darts lodged in her body. The darts were removed by a veterinarian and the cat is recovering.
"Angel is lucky to be alive," said Guido Gonzales-Lewis, the League's Chief Animal Cruelty Investigator. "One of the blow darts entered her head just below her left eye, barely missing her eye and brain."
The cat was found in the area of Tennessee Avenue and Cherry Street on Tuesday, May 10.
Aggravated cruelty to animals is now a felony in the state of Colorado and anyone convicted of the crime could be sentenced to up to 18 months in jail.
