Police say three teens and a 10-year-old boy were fighting dogs outside a home in Chester County, S.C. Neighbors complaints helped police make the arrest. Three pit bulls are now the newest residents at Chester County's Animal Shelter. They were seized from an illegal dogfight.
The dog fighting woke Scott Tant up a 6:30 a.m. Sunday. He said the pit bulls were making a racket behind his home on Hemphill Avenue in Chester.
Police charged 17-year-old Jerrell Brockman with animal fighting and cruelty to animals. A 15-year-old and a 13-year-old were also charged.
Another boy, only 10, was also there, but wasn't charged because of his age.
Neighbors knew the teen's family had a dog, but never thought young kids were up to dog fighting.
The three teens were formally charged Tuesday afternoon at the Chester County Detention Center.
One dog charged at one of the officers. The officer shot at it, but he missed.
The mother of one of the boys said she was asleep and knew nothing about the incident Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
