The 7-month Rottweiler puppy that was shoved into city traffic and hit by two cars will recover.
The female puppy that hasn't been given a name suffered a fractured front right leg and a torn ligament in its front left leg after a man shoved the dog into traffic near South Wadsworth Boulevard and West Kentucky Avenue.
Kelli Brown, animal control officer for the Lakewood Police Department, said a woman driving on Wadsworth brought the dog to the animal hospital after witnessing the incident. Brown said, "We had a good Samaritan witness the dog being pushed into traffic. ... It sounded like he could possibly be the owner."
The woman called to the man and he helped her load the injured puppy into her car. The woman did not get any information on the man but he did say the dog had been following him for two days.
Brown said the man could face animal cruelty charges.
The puppy is recovering and will be sent to the Table Mountain Animal Center in Golden for adoption. The dog did not have any identification.
Eileen Martinez, animal hospital spokeswoman, said "She's a very friendly dog."
Anyone interested in adopting the puppy can call the Table Mountain Animal Shelter at 303 278-7575. References« CO State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Jefferson County, CO
