A Tucson man is accused of beating to death his pet dog and cat with a bat.

Tucson police say officers went to the home of 30-year-old Alejandro Gutierrez on a domestic violence call Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, they found the dead animals and Gutierrez's wife told officers her husband had killed them.

Gutierrez was booked for investigation of a misdemeanor count of domestic violence/criminal damage, plus two felony counts of animal abuse.

He posted a $3,800 bond Monday.
