The animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the blowgun attacks on ducks in Mayport.
Someone has been shooting ducks with blow darts at the Mayport Trace apartment complex over the weekend.
Investigators called it "malicious," saying seven ducks were shot. One of the wounded birds had seven darts in its head.
Plastic plugs attached to a thin steel dart were apparently shot from blowguns at the ducks.
Police said they are following a number of leads. No arrests have been made but police said the crime is a third-degree felony.
