A Honea Path man has been found guilty of killing one of his neighbor's dogs and wounding another. Jimmy Brock was fined $850, plus more than $500 restitution, Abbeville County Magistrate Tommy Ferguson said Friday.

The jury took about 30 minutes before finding Mr Brock, who acted as his own attorney, guilty.

Magistrate Ferguson said Mr Brock told him he was having problems with dogs killing his goats. Tammy Hill found her dog, Louie, bleeding and dying in her yard. Louie's Labrador retriever twin, Frankie, was dead in a neighbor's yard, she said.

Louie was blinded in his left eye, suffering more than 100 gunshot wounds, according to veterinarian Dr Thomas Martin.
