A Tucson landlord who mutilated a former tenant's dog has been sentenced to five days in jail and may be required to pay up to $4,500 in restitution.
Clyde Starlin was found guilty of misdemeanor animal cruelty for cutting off the genitals of a Rottweiler belong to Shellina Heironiums.
Starlin's sentence, handed down on Nov 4, includes 12 months of unsupervised probation and either 300 hours of community service or a fine of $1,500.
Court records show Starlin atacked the dog last May after it escaped Heironimus' fenced-in yard and mated wth his dog.
Heironiums said her dog has recovered after receiving $4,500 in reconstructive surgery. A restitution hearing on medical costs is scheduled on Dec 7.
She is also seeking $100,000 in punitive damages from Starlin in a pending civil lawsuit. References- The Arizona Republic - Nov 21, 1999
