Frank Strawman slashed his neighbor's dog with a machete, pleaded no contest and paid a $200 fine.

Theresa Drehner, owner of the pit bull, pleaded guilty to letting her dog run free and asked the judge to waive the $100 fine. The judge refused.

Strawman did not appear in court to face animal cruelty charges for injuring the pit bull. He paid his fine and left Central Summary Court before the hearing. Strawman felt justified in what he did, he decided to plead no contest and pay the fine.

Another neighbor shot the dog to put it out of its misery, witnesses said.

Strawman said after the pitbull attacked his dog, he cut he animal to save his own dog.

Carol Linville, president of Pet Helpers, said the state statute is for extreme animal cruely, and this case does not fit the criteria because the dog was out of its yard and attacking another dog.
