The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for banding a dog's genitals and neglecting to seek veterinary care for the injuries suffered because of the banding.  The dog was found in September in Cookeville, Tennessee, which is located in Putnam County.

The Case:

According to a Putnam County Humane Society representative, two Great Pyrenees dogs were brought to the shelter by a person claiming he had found them on his property in Putnam County. Upon closer examination, one of the dogs (now named "Montana") had his genitals banded with a livestock band, resulting in extreme swelling and infection. Montana was given immediate veterinary treatment and is now recovering in a foster home. Fortunately, the dog who accompanied Montana was found to be in good condition with no injuries.
