Bemis was fined $3,000 for 3 counts of keeping vicious dogs; the fines were suspended if he pays the medial bills of the dog that Reno attacked on May 25th.

Kota and Rascal escaped on May 13th, running loose in the neighborhood and barking and snapping at neighbors.� Later in the day, police were called to the house when Bemis was bitten by one of the dogs as he tried to break up a fight between them.

On May 23rd, Kota and Rascal again escaped.� Police chased them for 2 hours, and had to tranquilize them before they could capture them.

On May 25th, Reno escaped and attacked a German shepherd being walked by its owner, causing several puncture wounds.� Jospeh R. Begins dog Jessy later died from those injuries.� Bemis was ordered to pay the medical and veterinary bills for Jessy, up to $1000.

In August 2001 Reno, being held at the Monadnock Humane Society while�Bemis, appealed a court order that it be euthanized�has bitten a worker at the HS.

The dog bit Jamie Eastman, 7-8 times on the leg, shoulder, arms and side.

Bemis lost his apeal in the Spring of 2002 when the State Supreme Court upheld a lower court order.� After Reno bit Eastman the 3 dogs were euthanized at the Monadnock Humane Society in Swanzey, NH.
