Keith Avery Burruss, 35, of Buford, GA was arrested Thursday, December 19, 2003 for the shooting death of a dog.  He allegedly left the dog for dead outside an abandoned restaurant when officers discovered a bullet-riddled, long-haired shepherd mix dog on Tuesday December 9, 2003 in South Hall, GA. When officers arrived, its eye was blown out, teeth blown out, and it was still alive and moaning. The dog was shot in the head six times and survived for almost 18 hours.
Animal Control Officers were unable to move it without causing the dog to moan and cry out in extreme pain.  A veternarian was called to the scene to euthanize the dog on the spot.
