James Morales, who admitted he stuffed his pit bull into a suitcase for a trip from South Florida to Baltimore, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

Morales, who was arrested at the Greyhound station in Jacksonville during a layover on Sept. 9, was released from jail for time served.

Morales, 20, was arrested after a guard noticed his suitcase moving and found the dog inside. The dog was in the suitcase in the luggage compartment of the bus for about three hours. It was having seizures, and died shortly after it was discovered.
