Geneva County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Slocomb teenager on a charge he beat a dog to death.

Cpl. Eugene Campbell said deputies charged Justin Kyle Goldsmith, 19, of West Malvern Highway, with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Campbell said deputies served a warrant against Goldsmith that charged him with using a lead pipe to beat a dog to death in a field. He said the dog was a black labrador retriever that was between six months and a year old. Campbell said the incident happened Monday in a field off Geneva County Road 93, or what's commonly referred to as Peacock Road near Malvern.

Campbell said there was a second animal cruelty warrant filed against another Geneva County teenager that remains pending for his role in the incident.
