Over 70 dogs seized from mobile home
Monroe, IN (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Jul 28, 2010
County: Greene

Disposition: Not Charged

Abuser names unreleased

More than 70 dogs have been rescued from a Greene County mobile home where they were being housed inside by "hoarders."

Monroe County Humane Association CEO Sarah Hayes says the dogs were well-fed and had received water, but many hadn’t received vaccinations, weren’t spayed or neutered and were kept in very close quarters.

The dogs are being temporarily housed in Bloomington.

The owners said that they intended to start an animal shelter.

Hayes says animal hoarding is not an easy problem to deal with, considering the emotional and public health aspects involved.

Donations are being sought to help care for the dogs.
