Duane Loose is having a tough time dealing with the unexpected and violent death of his dog, Mier.

“I heard a gun shot. I whistled and called and she usually comes back right away but she didn't come back so I thought something was kind of weird about that,” recalled Loose.

Mier was one of three German Shepard's Loose owns.

On Sunday, he said someone shot and killed her while she and the other two dogs were playing in the yard of his home in New River.

“I'm just empty and I'm lost and it really breaks my heart,” said Loose.

Loose said he had no idea why someone would want to hurt any of his dogs, calling all of them very friendly.

“Possibly someone was out shooting and trying to hunt coyotes or something and got frustrated and shot the dog,” Loose said.

According to Loose, a neighbor saw a man in a white, late model truck driving off and he thinks that's the man who shot Mier.

“It was the only vehicle out here,” said Loose.

He is now offering a $1,000 reward to find the person who killed Mier.

Anyone with information can e-mail Loose at [email protected].
