Dog found dead, 3 others neglected
Kingsbury, IN (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Feb 1, 2010
County: La Porte

Disposition: Not Charged

Abuser names unreleased

One dog was found dead while three other dogs were discovered noticeably underweight near here.

According to La Porte County Sheriff’s deputies, deputies along with animal control responded to the 3600 block of South Wayne Drive. At least two of the surviving dogs were squealing loudly as if they were in pain. In addition to being thin, one of the surviving dogs had open sores on the front legs.

Police said two of the surviving dogs were in separate cages with bowls that contained no food or water. The other dog was also in a cage with no water but a small amount of food remained in its bowl.

Police said each cage contained a large amount of feces along with a small amount of wood chips to help insulate the animals from the cold.

The dogs were taken from the property and were being housed at the La Porte County Small Animal Shelter.

According to animal control officials, the dogs were being looked at by a veterinarian to determine their condition.

No arrests or citations were issued but police were able to obtain the name of the property owner to assist with the ongoing investigation, police said.
