An Orange County man accused of beating a miniature schnauzer to death in front of its owner has been charged with animal cruelty.
Twenty-six-year-old Bayron Reyes Lopez of San Clemente was charged Thursday with a felony count of animal cruelty and a felony count of vandalism.
Prosecutors say the dog was being walked early Wednesday when Lopez picked it up, choked it with both hands, then repeatedly slammed it against the sidewalk.
Lopez was found minutes later lying on his stomach in a puddle of coffee at a fitness center where we works as a custodian.
He faces up to three years and eight months in prison if convicted. References |
