A couple accused of animal abuse remain free tonight.

Charles and Karen Lathan were expected to turn themselves in today. Officials say there are now active warrants out for the Lathans.

They are accused of leaving a horse to suffer and die in Tibbie, in Washington County.

Now, each of them face one count of animal abuse.
