The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office assisted Waukon police at the scene.

Case Updates

An off-duty Waukon police officer heard a man outside a Waukon house yell, "I have $200 on the girl," before he heard the barks and whimpers late Saturday, according to court documents.

Four injured dogs were seized from the home at 506 Second Ave. SW belonging to Derek Thompson, 19, and Michael Kalish, 18, after authorities discovered the small dog fighting operating, according to the complaint and affidavit filed in Allamakee County District Court.

The two pit bulls and two mixed breeds owned by Thompson and Kalish are currently housed in the county's pound, Bollman said. One is being treated with antibiotics for a puncture wound.
