A dog was found Friday morning in the Blackjack Road area with its mouth wired shut. Hall County Animal Control Supervisor Rick Phillips says the dog has an injured snout from the wire and no tags indicating its owner.

"It looks to be like an old injury, two or three days," Phillips says. "It has not been real recent is the best we could tell"

He says the dog will be nursed back to health at the animal shelter in Gainesville.

Should the persons responsible for the abuse be found, Phillips says they could face felony animal cruelty charges.

The dog is a hound breed and believed to be about 18 months old.

Anyone who may be familiar with the dog is encouraged to contact Hall County Animal Control at 770-531-6829
