Columbia County deputies arrested a man on charges of kidnapping, sodomy, animal abuse, menacing, assault and strangulation.

Authorities say the 35-year-old victim went to the houseboat she used to share with 37-year-old James Rogers on Saturday to collect some belongings and was locked in a small room for three days.

She escaped after faking a medical emergency.

Investigators say Rogers also killed the victim's two cats and threw them into the Columbia River.

He was arrested Thursday night at Kerry West Marina in northern Columbia County.
