Gwinnett Animal Control workers removed the animals late Tuesday night during a raid of the woman's home near Highway 120 and Satellite Boulevard. Following up on an anonymous tip, authorities said they found the animals living in deplorable conditions.

Gwinnett County police Sgt. J.D. Parish said, "Upon investigation, [animal control workers] discovered approximately 62 animals that were being housed in the residence and around the property."

"My understanding is that there are approximately 11 or 12 cats along with the dogs," Sgt. Parish said.

About 11 of the dogs appeared to be in bad shape, possibly requiring medical attention.

Sgt. Parish said, "Upon further investigation, they found 11 dogs that were in a state of neglect, and charges are pending on one individual for the neglect."

"My understanding is they will just be taken back and observed at the animal control shelter," he said.
